A good night’s sleep – a distant memory

05 Apr

Had the night from hell!  Heard Mum up at 12.20, went in her room and she was fully dressed.  Asked her to go back to bed which she did.  Then only half an hour later, she was up again.  Oblivious to the fact that only half an hour had passed.  Tried (without success) to explain that it was the middle of the night and sent her back to bed.  I suspect she was keeping her clothes on by this time!

I tossed and turned then at 2.50 she was up again.  I got a bit impatient this time, so she got upset.  Oh God!  Again she went back to bed and I basically don’t think I slept again all night.  I heard her go to the bathroom at some stage then at 5 a.m. she got up. I didn’t bother telling her to go back to bed this time.  I heard her pottering about, opening and shutting doors and drawers then it went quiet for a while.  I also heard her chatting away to someone – possibly me.  Gave up at 6.45 and got up!

She didn’t say anything about the night so obviously doesn’t know how disturbed it was.  I asked her if she was going to get some breakfast and she told me we had to wait until we were asked!?

It’s now 5 pm and Mum has just come home, immediately sat in her chair and fallen asleep.  I am going to do my damnedest to keep her awake this evening, in the vain hope we may both sleep.

As I’d not heard back from Social Services I rang them a little while ago and got a message saying “Due to unforeseen circumstances, we are unable to take your call.”  Enough said!

Oh my. I’m sorry for such a tough night! I know exactly what it’s like to lose patience. Don’t feel bad cause it happens to all of us!
I just got my Dad’s Ambien (sleep medicine) in the mail… it seems to be helping with his restless nights…
